"No need to be a Chekov aficionado to
appreciate this charmer presented by
Lamplight Productions and Katie Soulé....

...a very funny play, with a poignancy here
that is deeply moving."

- Nancy Worssam, Art Stage

This is a must see show! The characters are so well played,
great timing and lots of laughter. The play deals with poignant
issues we all deal with in a tender loving way. I am going to go
again and bring my bookclub.

“No need to be a Chekov aficionado to appreciate this charmer presented by Lamplight Productions and Katie Soulé. …a very funny play, with a poignancy here that is deeply moving.” ~ Nancy Worssam, Art Stage

Written by Christopher Durang, the contemporary playwright who has won more awards than you can swing a dead cat at, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike has tickled audiences since its premiere in 2012. It won the 2013 Tony® Award for Best Play, the Drama Desk Award for Best Play and scads of others. Why, you ask? Because it’s funny and heartfelt and a brilliant commentary on absurd people trying to get a grip. And in reality, in this modern age aren’t we all trying to get a grip?

Welcome to Bucks County, Pennsylvania where siblings Vanya and Sonia have lived their entire lives in the family home. They spend their days doing nothing but lamenting their rather Chekovian lot in life. When Masha, the third sibling (who is funding their life with her movie star career), returns home with a beautiful and very young boyfriend, life as Vanya and Sonia know it is threatened. Inspired by the work of Anton Chekhov, Christopher Durang uses his play to comment on age, entitlement, and social media; all with the presence of overwhelming, ridiculous comedy. A raucous and poignant play that is pure joy from start to finish.
